'Swam as if nothing had happened': an alligator with a knife in his head was found in a lake in Texas. VIDEO

On the morning of Thursday, June 13, a resident of Sugar Land, Texas, was walking near Pumpkin Lake - she goes on such walks every day. But that day everything was different: a woman noticed an alligator swimming in the lake, with a huge knife sticking out of its skull.

Erin Mins Weaver drew attention to the strange silhouette and saw that a knife was thrust into the head of a reptile. USA Today.

“He was swimming and he turned around and swam towards me and there was definitely a knife in his head,” the woman said. “If it wasn’t stuck in his right eye, it was very close.”

The night before, according to Weaver, her neighbor published a photo of an alligator with something resembling an object stuck in her head, but because of the distance it was difficult to make out.

The alligator, the woman said, remained completely calm and just lay in the water near the stones while she was taking pictures.

“There have been alligators in this lake for the last six years,” Weaver said. “I’ve never had a problem with any of them.” They just don't pay attention to you."

Weaver took photos and posted them to a local gated community and then contacted experts at Gator Country, an alligator adventure park and sanctuary in Beaumont, Texas. From what she learned from experts, the knife was clearly not being used for self-defense, given the force it would take to penetrate the thick alligator skin.

Fortunately, the alligator did not seem to suffer from pain and swam calmly when a woman noticed it.

“He didn't make any sounds or feel any pain, I didn't see any blood on him, he seemed to be swimming fine,” she said.

Weaver was looking for an organization in Texas that could help the animal.

Gator Country spokeswoman Kelly Sorage told reporters that their organization's hands are tied - they must get permission from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to help the alligator. Agency spokesman Steve Lightfoot said a special permit is required to capture an alligator for any purpose.

As soon as permission is obtained, the reptile will be pulled out of the lake, assisted and taken to a safe place.

“He’ll be back in Gator Country,” Sorage said. After this, the alligator will live its entire life in the reserve.
