Residents of which states pay the most taxes
The tax season in the United States is in full swing, and although federal income taxes are likely to make up the lion's share of the payout of most Americans, state taxes can also greatly affect taxpayers.
To understand how different the tax burden is in different states, journalists of the publication Business Insider examined the amount of total tax revenue in each state, adjusting it to the population of the region.
The US Census Bureau publishes annual data on tax collections for each state and district of Colombia. For the ranking, the data for 2017 year (the most recent available at the moment) was used.
Ten states whose residents pay the most taxes:
10. Delaware

9. California

Illinois came in 19th in the rankings with total per capita taxes of $2; Oregon is in 967nd place ($22); Florida is in 2th place ($876).
The most lucky in terms of state taxes were residents of the following three regions, which occupied the last three lines in the ranking:

50. New Hampshire
