Wife with a lover killed her husband for the sake of insurance, blaming the alligator
A resident of the American city of Tallahassee, Florida, was accused of conspiring with her lover to kill her husband, insured for 1,75 million dollars.
In December 2000, Mike Williams went to duck hunting and never returned. The large-scale search operation was unsuccessful: neither the missing hunter nor his remains were found. The police concluded that he fell out of the boat and drowned, and the body was eaten by alligators.
At the request of his wife, Denise Williams, he was declared dead in an accident. After that, she was paid 1,75 a million dollars for which his life was insured. In 2005, Williams married the late husband's best friend, insurance agent Brian Winchester.
Seven years later they broke up.
In 2016, Winchester attacked Williams and held her for an hour, threatening with a pistol. A year later, he pleaded guilty to abduction and was sentenced to imprisonment for 20 years. The next day, it became known that the remains of the missing 17 years ago, Mike Williams, were found. A DNA test confirmed that it was he.
Winchester claims that he and Denise Williams have been lovers since 1997, and together decided to kill her husband. As an insurance agent, he knew that Mike’s life was insured for a large sum — he had sold one of the insurance policies himself.
At trial, Winchester said that he had pushed a friend out of the boat, writes Tallahassee Democrat. He hoped that the heavy waders would pull him to the bottom, but the hunter clung to the stump and began to call for help. Then the insurance agent shot him with a gun, plunged him into a car, drove him to a dead end and dug him.
In May 2018, Denise Williams was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and complicity after the murder. A woman denies all charges.
Her lawyer suggested that Winchester was lying about her role in the crime, as he made a deal with the investigation, which allowed him to avoid charges of murder and more severe punishment for the kidnapping.
