The building of the US embassy in Kiev was cleared so that it would no longer be suitable for a diplomatic mission
The State Department has ordered the destruction of network equipment and computers at the US Embassy in Kiev, which is being moved to Lviv, reports Voice of America.
According to unnamed US officials familiar with the matter and internal correspondence, the State Department also demanded that the embassy telephone system be dismantled.
Because of this, the embassy building in Kiev will be unsuitable for a diplomatic mission.
On February 13, 56 embassy employees arrived at Dulles International Airport near Washington, with secret documents delivered with them.
The State Department said it has taken all necessary precautions as part of the staff cuts.
