Abnormal heat threatens southeast US
A wave of dangerous heat threatens to burn out the southeastern United States over the coming weekend.
According to forecasts, some temperature records for this period of the year may be broken this weekend, when temperature peaks will rise to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius) in the regions from Alabama to Virginia, writes USA Today.
"This May has been warmer than normal in the Southeast so far, but temperatures will rise markedly later in the week," said AccuWeather meteorologist Max Vido.

In some regions, records related to 1800 years may be broken.
"Most high temperature records in the region are around 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius), so it is expected that records in these cities could be broken during a heat wave," Vido said.
In Charleston, South Carolina, a long and dangerous heat wave is expected according to the National Meteorological Service.
Weather.us meteorologist Ryan Maue emphasized that in addition to the extreme heat in the southeast, weak winds and lack of precipitation are expected, as the region will cover an area of high atmospheric pressure that prevents the formation of clouds and rain.

In the weather service, the Atlanta stressed that they could not yet say when it could be expected cooling or precipitation.
Weather.com meteorologist Jonathan Erdman said that the duration of the heat wave can make it "life-threatening."
“Keep your time outdoors to a minimum during the hottest hours of the day, which is usually from late morning to evening. Drink plenty of fluids and wear light, loose clothing if you must be outside for long periods of time,” he advised.
According to the latest forecast of the Climate Prediction Center, the unusual heat is expected to continue in the southeast until early June.
