Walked a meter from people, checked the tables: the lion came to the camp to tourists during a safari

Holidaymakers in Botswana, Africa, had a closer encounter with wildlife than expected - as a massive lion stalked their campsite at night. The publication told in more detail New York Post.

“The lions come to the camps unannounced and in complete silence, as happened to us,” said a man behind the scenes of a video called “Once in a Lifetime,” which was filmed on May 8 in a nature reserve in Kgalagadi.

The video starts with a predatorwalking around the perimeter of the camp.

After wandering in the bushes, the big cat turns and walks towards the campers, who, whispering to each other, say that no one should move.

The lion then walks straight up to their dining table and inspects the cutlery.

At some point, the animal accidentally knocks the bottle off the table, making a noise that destroys the disguise of a secretive hunter.

The video ends with the lion approaching a few paces from the safari participants, then leaving them with a chilling look.

It might have seemed prudent to try to flee the scene. However, one camper said they agreed before the trip that if they had an encounter like this, they "wouldn't run, as that would encourage most wild animals to chase."

“If someone panics and runs or makes sudden movements, there is a high chance that they could be attacked,” the witness said.

And although he appreciated the privilege of seeing such a regal animal up close, he nevertheless admitted that in such a situation "there is no room for error."
