All US consulates in Russia resumed issuing visas, but with restrictions
The issuance of visas to Russians resumed American consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. As the press secretary of the US embassy in Moscow, Maria Olson, said, visas are issued with restrictions - only to those citizens who do not need to have an interview.
According to Voice of America, documents can be issued by applicants who have previously received a US visa and are going to renew it, as well as those who have not more than a year since the expiry of the previous visa.
At the end of August of this year, the US Embassy in the Russian Federation announced the temporary suspension of consular missions in St. Petersburg, Yekaberinburg and Vladivostok. The main reason was the decision of the Russian authorities to reduce the number of diplomatic missions to 455 people. The result of this decision was a significant increase in the timing of non-immigrant visas. So, for example, now in Moscow, the average visa processing period is 85 working days, instead of 3-4, as was the case this summer.
