War in Ukraine: Zelensky survived three assassination attempts in a week
Hitmen have tried to kill Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at least three times since Russia invaded his country on February 24. Writes about it New York Post.
The assassination plots were thwarted when anti-war Russians leaked intelligence to Ukraine about two separate groups of mercenaries who planned to carry out attacks.
“I can say that we have received information from the Federal Security Service of Russia, who do not want to participate in this bloody war,” said the Minister of National Security and Defense of Ukraine.
The shady, Kremlin-backed Wagner group was behind the two assassination attempts. If they were or would be successful, Moscow could deny direct involvement in the assassination.

“In terms of influencing sovereign policy, this will be perhaps their biggest mission to date. This will have a serious impact on the course of the war,” said a diplomatic source.
More than 400 members of the Wagner group are still in Kyiv, sources told the Times, after they infiltrated Ukraine with a "victim list" of 24 officials whose death would cause havoc in the Ukrainian government.
Zelenskiy, 44, also evaded an assassination attempt on February 26 on the outskirts of Kyiv, when a group of Chechen assassins were neutralized before they could get to the Ukrainian leader.
