Cynthia Robinson took her 45-pound pit bull Tank for a walk and was attacked by an alligator as they walked past a retention pond. “He was so fast,” Robinson said. “Tank didn’t have the slightest chance.”

According to the woman, the length of the reptile was about three meters. “I wanted to help, but this alligator was huge,” she claims. “I’ve never seen such big ones anywhere, except, perhaps, Busch Gardens.” Florida's Busch Gardens amusement park houses large animals, including alligators and rhinoceroses.

“I could only stand and watch him eat my dog,” Robinson says. “I would not want this to happen to others, to a child, or to someone else.” An alligator trader, sent by the Florida State Conservation and Natural Resources Commission, has begun a search for reptiles.

Mississippi alligators are common in Florida, growing on average up to 3,4 meters in length and weighing up to 200 kilograms.
