The authorities of major US cities promise to protect illegal immigrants from immigration raids

The authorities of large cities across the country opposed the plan announced by the Trump administration start in the morning 23 Jun scale raids ICEaimed at families of illegal immigrants. People promise legal protection and support.

In the evening of June 21, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a statement calling these plans "shameful and completely unacceptable." New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and the mayors of Chicago, Washington and Los Angeles also condemned the threat and promised to help the families of illegals, writes New York Post.

“We will fight back every step of the way to protect our immigrant families,” Cuomo promised. “New York will continue to be the beacon of inclusion and diversity that the nation and the world count on.”

According to the governor, a special rapid response team will be on high alert as part of a project to protect the freedom of the state and will help any family in need of legal services throughout the state this weekend.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio retweeted this message in response to Trump's planned immigration raids (note that some government officials appealed to immigrants in English, Spanish, and Chinese):

Mayor Bill de Blasio also tweeted his readiness to resist raid plans.

“The resources here are for those who have received orders from immigration courts or are concerned about their status,” the mayor said.

“Know your rights. Follow @NYCImmigrants. We are here and ready to help families in need. ”

The raids are expected to affect 2000 families in 10 cities:

Chicago Mayor Laurie Lightfoot issued a statement saying that local police would not cooperate with ICE law enforcement agencies.

On Friday evening, the Mayor of Washington (DC) Muriel Bowser made a statement in which she also condemned the threat from the administration and promised legal services and other resources to the affected families.
