On Putin's anniversary, Russian-speaking Californians recalled his special operation to change urine

On October 7, on the day of the 70th birthday of Vladimir Putin, in the San Francisco Bay Area, a theatrical reading of the play "Special Operation" was held, dedicated both to the long-standing scandal with the substitution of the results of the analysis of Olympic athletes by the Russian leadership, and the current war of Russia with Ukraine.

Tests through the hole

We are talking about the proceedings, leaked to the press in 2016. It was then that an independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) presented a report about cases of possible use of doping by Russian athletes at the Olympics in Sochi in 2013. According to the document, the Moscow anti-doping laboratory helped Russian athletes cover up the use of prohibited substances within the framework of a system created by the state, replacing dirty samples with clean ones.

Doped-contaminated urine samples from athletes in the Sochi laboratory were changed at night, for which a special hole was drilled in the wall of the laboratory. This "special operation" was coordinated by the Ministry of Sports, as noted in the report, "with the active participation and assistance of the FSB."

A few years ago, an immigrant from Ukraine Mikhail Poizner wrote a play based on these glorious events, calling it "Special Assignment". Instead of Russia, the action took place in the fictitious "Sharai Federation", and the Chekists, who carried out the order to change urine, were engaged, among other things, in contract killings and other dirty deeds.

At the beginning of 2019, two full-fledged performances were staged based on the play, which took place at the Russian-language Starbright Theater in Campbell, California. As the author explained, he wanted to understand how seemingly serious people, FSB officers, could persuade their own employees to change a jar of urine, with what face the leadership conveyed this order to the personnel, and what did they feel at that moment?

"Meanness reveals the essence of a person"

After more than three years, Mikhail supplemented the text and called it "Special Operation". Now the “supreme commander” no longer hides his goal: he started the whole farce around the Olympics in order to hide preparations for the capture of a neighboring state. As in past performances, all participants in the current reading are amateurs, most of whom have no acting education. Nevertheless, the theme of the war and the crimes of the Russian leadership turned out to be so significant for each of them that, according to the audience, the performers perfectly got used to the roles.

Mikhail Poizner and the actors who participated in the performance are sure that such a seemingly amusing and relatively insignificant incident as the substitution of urine jars to fake sports results is just one of the links in the general chain of lies and meanness that led to today's war.

«A person who substitutes the results of competitions and forces his special services to change urine in test tubes for this, as well as orders to smear his opponent's underpants with poison, is dangerous. Such actions primarily characterize him as a person, and not only reveal that he is capable of any meanness, but also demonstrate the pettiness and insignificance of his nature. When such a person gets huge power, including nuclear weapons, he becomes a danger to the entire planet.", - says Michael.

"From a small test tube to a big war"

A native of Odessa Kirill Mogilev both in the previous and in the new production, he played the role of an FSB general.

«I agreed to participate in this project a few years ago, because I was strongly opposed to what Russia has been doing in Ukraine since 2014. I decided to try to point out the essence of Putin to the audience with the help of satire. Yes, in its original form, the play did not deal with the war, but I wanted to somehow reach out to people who, even while living in America, supported the Kremlin. They idealized Russia very much, and I wanted to show them that the real Russia is completely different.", - says Cyril.

According to Kirill Mogilev, the story of urine is one of the bricks that paved the way for the current war.

«Most Russians live in a kind of parallel reality created by not quite mentally healthy people. This includes the substitution of tests, and the smearing of cowards with poison, and the trip of killers from the GRU to Salisbury "to look at the spiers." All this illustrates the perverted consciousness of Putin and his entourage, the result of which was the war.", Cyril is sure.

The same opinion is shared by an immigrant from Belarus Alexander Katserwho joined the project just this year.

«It seems to me that the fraud at the Olympics and the war are links in the same chain, the total brainwashing of the Russian population and the Kremlin's attempt to fool the whole world. In the history of urine, it is significant that this was done on a national scale. When the entire policy of the state is based on deceit, people learn to believe in an alternative reality, and are no longer able to distinguish lies and perceive the truth. Such "special operations" teach people to believe in any nonsense, and gradually the level of crimes comes from a small test tube to a big war. It is on such “test tubes” that the rotten foundation of power is built both in Russia and Belarus", - the actor believes.
