In the USA, 'Irony of Fate' is being filmed with Hollywood actors: who will play the main roles

A remake of the cult Soviet comedy "The Irony of Fate" will get a Hollywood look. Edition Russia Beyond decided to find out who will play their favorite characters in the American version.

The film "The Irony of Fate" was filmed in 1976, and since then it has been considered the main "New Year's film" in post-Soviet countries - something like the Christmas movie "Home Alone" for the United States. The film unites the entire post-Soviet space.

The story revolves around Zhenya, who, having had too much fun with friends in the bathhouse on New Year's Eve, gets on a plane by mistake and finds himself in another city, in someone else's apartment, very similar to his own. This moment is a satirical commentary on the building style of the era with its endless panel blocks.

There, he discovers that "his" apartment is actually owned by a charming young woman named Nadia, who is getting ready for her wedding and is going through an existential crisis.

The director of the Hollywood adaptation, tentatively titled "On Fate", will be directed by Russian Marius Weisberg. According to him, the film was conceived recently and will contain a number of elements adapted from the original film.

Filming will take place in Boston in the summer of 2021 and will star Emma Roberts (We're the Millers, Wildchild), Thomas Mann (Fargo), Garrett Hedlund (Troy) and Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland). ").

Emma Roberts will become the new Nadya Sheveleva.
