Dozens of people die in the US after being vaccinated against COVID-19

55 people in the U.S. have died after being vaccinated against COVID-19, according to reports filed with the federal system. The Epoch Times.

According to the Federal Vaccine Side Effects Reporting System (VAERS) database, deaths have been reported among people who received Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. The system is passive: this means that reports are not collected automatically, they must be submitted. Anyone can submit reports to VAERS, including health care providers, patients, or family members.

According to the reporting system website, VAERS reports "are often lacking in detail and sometimes may contain information in error." Also, these reports take into account "only a small fraction of the actual side effects," the site says, although it is believed that underreporting of serious events is rare.

In some cases, patients died within days of vaccination.

One man, a 66-year-old Colorado resident, was lethargic and remained in bed the day after receiving the Moderna vaccine. Early the next morning, he “was observed in bed motionless, pale, eyes half-open, foaming at the mouth, and unresponsive,” the VAERS report states. “He wasn’t breathing and he didn’t have a pulse.”

In another case, a 93-year-old South Dakota man was injected with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on January 4 at around 11 a.m. After about two hours, he said that he was very tired and could not continue the physiotherapy he was receiving. He was taken back to a room where he said his legs were heavy. He stopped breathing soon after.

FDA spokeswoman Abigail Capobianco told The Epoch Times by email: "Any reports of death following vaccine administration are promptly and rigorously investigated by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)." ...

Officials from these agencies work with health care providers to obtain case histories and case reports and to review clinical cases, she said, adding: "It is important to note that it is usually impossible to know from VAERS data whether a vaccine caused an adverse event." ...

Health officials on the VAERS website warn that the message in the system does not prove the vaccine is to blame; proof that the condition was caused by the vaccine is not required for the system to accept the report.

In addition to deaths, people reported 96 life-threatening conditions after being vaccinated against COVID-19, as well as 24 cases of permanent disability, 225 hospitalizations and 1388 emergency department visits.

Neither the CDC nor the FDA has a central database of adverse events following vaccination. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said on January 6 that severe allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines were occurring at a rate of 11,1 per million shots, compared with 1,3 per million flu shots.

As of January 15, 10,5 million Americans have received the COVID-19 vaccine. The federal health authorities said the side effects are being investigated, but the vaccines are safe.

“These are safe and effective vaccines. We have hard data to prove it,” Messonnier said.

One death following vaccinations attracted attention earlier this week. Gregory Michael, a 56-year-old healthcare professional at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, received an injection on December 18, 2020. He died sixteen days later.

Michael's wife Heidi Nekelmann told Facebook that her husband was "very healthy" before being vaccinated. She said that after being vaccinated, he was admitted to the intensive care unit with a diagnosis of acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a blood disorder believed to be caused by a reaction to the vaccine. He died eventually.

“He was a pro-vaxxer, so he got the vaccine himself,” Neckelmann wrote. “I think people need to be aware that there can be side effects, that it's not good for everyone, and in this case it ruined a wonderful life, a perfect family and affected so many people around us.” Don't let his death be in vain, please save more lives by making this news."

Pfizer said in a statement to news agencies that there is currently no evidence of a link between the death and the vaccine.

“Pfizer and BioNTech are aware of the death of a healthcare professional 16 days after receiving the first dose of BNT162b2,” Pfizer said in a statement. “This is a highly unusual clinical case of severe thrombocytopenia, a condition that reduces the body’s ability to clot blood and stop internal bleeding.”

“We are actively investigating this case, but at this time there is no evidence that there is any direct link to the vaccine,” the company said. “No associated safety signals were identified in our clinical trials, post-marketing experience or mRNA vaccine platform.” Millions of people have been vaccinated to date and we are closely monitoring any side effects experienced by those who receive our vaccine. It is important to note that serious side effects, including deaths not related to the vaccine, unfortunately can occur at the same rate as deaths in the general population.”

A Pfizer spokesman told The Epoch Times in an email earlier this month that the company is "closely monitoring all vaccination reports." Moderna did not respond to requests for comment on its involvement in monitoring serious side effects in people receiving the vaccine.

The VAERS update comes after Norway changed its COVID-19 vaccination guidelines to not administer vaccines to "very weak" people, citing 13 deaths among those vaccinated.
