Swiss city gets 'chocolate snow' due to breakdown at a candy factory
“Chocolate snow” passed over a Swiss town due to a ventilation problem at the Lindt factory, writes Independent.

Due to the strong wind, cocoa powder scattered in the immediate vicinity of the factory located in the town of Olten, between Zurich and Basel.
Residents of the town were a little shocked when, due to a malfunction of the ventilation system at the chocolate factory, “snow” of small particles of cocoa powder began to fall on the street.
Lindt & Spruengli confirmed local and media reports on Tuesday August 18 that there was a minor defect in the cooling vent on a cocoa bean roasting line at its factory.
The base of chocolate is ground grains and fragments of crushed cocoa beans.
Along with strong winds on the morning of Friday, August 15, the powder scattered in the immediate vicinity of the factory, leaving a layer of cocoa dust resembling chocolate “snow” in the surrounding area.

The company said that one machine was coated with a thin layer of cocoa powder and that the company offered to pay for any cleaning required, but the owners had not yet accepted the offer.
Factory production continued as usual and the company said the particles were completely harmless to people and the environment.
The ventilation system has been repaired.
