In Russia, a plane crash occurred in Kamchatka. An-26 aircraft carrying 22 passengers, including a 7-year-old child, and six more crew members. According to preliminary data, no one survived. Writes about it DW.
The wreckage of the plane was discovered on 6 July. This was announced by the general director of the Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise Alexei Khrabrov.
The plane flew from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to the village of Palana on the western coast of the peninsula. The crew did not get in touch at the appointed time, after which the An-26 disappeared from the radar.
“The An-26 plane probably crashed into a coastal rock, some of the debris fell into the sea,” RIA Novosti writes, citing the head of the airline.
On the plane were mainly residents of Palana, including the head of the village, Olga Mokhireva, the head of the mobilization department of the settlement administration, Alexander Andreikin, and his wife Olga, who heads the financial department of the administration. Also on this flight was the head of the local division of the construction company PIK, Petr Ayani, writes TASS.
An-26 could crash due to bad weather conditions
According to one version, the plane crashed due to pilot error. “The plane could have crashed due to pilot error due to poor visibility. At the same time, the crew did not report any problems, which indicates the rapidity of the situation,” said a source familiar with the situation.

According to forecasters, in the area of the disappearance of the aircraft, continuous clouds were observed at an altitude of 300-600 meters, but there was no precipitation or increased wind.
The assumptions about equipment failure are also considered. Local authorities said the aircraft had a valid certificate of airworthiness and that the crew had passed a pre-flight inspection.
Crash site established
For a long time, specialized services have been establishing the crash site. The plane disappeared from radar about 9 km from Palana.
All operational services in the area of the incident were alerted. Two helicopters and an aircraft were sent to search for the An-26. The ships of the Pacific Fleet joined the operation.
Rescuers found the "wreckage of the aircraft" 4-5 km from the runway from the coastline.
“Given the geographical features of the landscape, rescue operations are difficult,” the department said. Before the fall, he “collided with a hill, which led to the destruction of the aircraft.”
Rescuers suspended work until the morning of July 7
“According to preliminary data, all passengers and crew were killed. A total of 28 people,” the regional aviation department said.
A few hours later, rescuers suspended work at the site of the passenger plane crash until the morning of July 7 - due to the onset of darkness. A group of divers will be involved in the work. One part of the aircraft fuselage is located on the slope of the Pyatibratka hill, the other is in the sea.
Those on board have not yet been found, said the region's governor Vladimir Solodov.
