Russia threatened to block Wikipedia

The Russian agency for supervision of consumer rights protection (Rospotrebnadzor) may block Wikipedia if it does not remove information about the preparation of narcotic substances. About it it is said on Facebook of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor).

Roskomnadzor appeals to the management of the encyclopedia with a demand to remove the page with the recipe. Or she will have to “send information about this page to operators for blocking throughout the Russian Federation.”

“Since, by decision of Wikipedia administrators, the Internet resource operates on the basis of the HTTPS protocol, which does not allow restrictions on access to individual pages, the entire resource will be blocked,” Roskomnadzor emphasized.

The official impetus for the proceedings was the decision of the Chernoyarsk District Court of the Astrakhan Region on June 25, 2015 to ban the dissemination in Russia of information about methods of preparing narcotic substances posted on the Wikipedia page.
