The body of an 2-year-old boy who fell victim to an alligator was discovered in Orlando.
Florida authorities have reported the discovery of the body of 2-year-old Lane Graves from Nebraska, who the day before was pulled by an alligator from a lake in Disney Park.
The search continued throughout the night, the body of the boy was found on 1: 45 of the day local time.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said earlier that the alligator was 4 to 7 feet (1,2 to 2,4 meters) in size.
The boy’s father was reportedly trying to resist the reptile, but he failed to snatch the child.
Tragedy occurred around 21-00 on Tuesday in the Seven Seas lagoon on the territory of the Walt Disney World amusement park in the suburbs of Orlando, near the hotel complex Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Lane Graves was in Orlando with his parents Matt and Melissa, as well as his brother and sister. The representative of the local police stressed that the child did not swim in the water at the time of the incident, but was right on the shore of the lake.
The rescue operation was reportedly hampered by the large size of the artificial lake into which the alligator dragged the child. Officials also reported the capture of at least five alligators who were killed by euthanasia in order to obtain the necessary tests.
The representative of the amusement park Walt Disney World stated that the company is shocked by the incident and is trying to help the child’s family. In addition, Disney temporarily closed its beaches and suspended the work of ferries.
Walt Disney World in Orlando is the largest and most visited entertainment center in the world, its total area is 100 square kilometers.
The incident occurred just two days after attack in Orlando to the gay club Pulse, in which 49 people were killed and more than 50 injured.
