Mass action in support of protesters in Belarus was held in New York: photo report
On Saturday, August 15, about 2000 people gathered near the UN headquarters in New York in protest against the events in Belarus.

Let us remind you that on August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus, which turned out to be rigged. After the government announced preliminary results showing that Alexander Lukashenko got 80% of the vote, people filled the streets of Minsk, the capital of Belarus, to show their disagreement with the results.
The police used flash and sonic grenades and rubber bullets to force people to leave, and those who remained were arrested.
5 people were arrested on the first day, then the number reached 000 in the next 7 days.

People gathered in a park near the UN to ask human rights organizations to stop the violence and arrests. Several countries were represented, including Venezuela, Italy, Scotland, Ukraine, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Israel, Ireland, Russia and the United States.
The protesters also wanted to express solidarity and support to the people of Belarus. Protest actions in Belarus have been going on since August 9.
In addition, the protesters hoped to draw attention to the problem, since the media say nothing about Belarus. In the end, the meeting was successful and hundreds of people expressed their willingness to come again.
