In New York, a man hugged and comforted a 700-kilogram bear. VIDEO
American Jim Kovalchik showed how to embrace an 700-kilogram sad bear with hugs. The video, in which he embraces and strokes the predator, was published on the channel of the New York Center for helping orphaned animals.
24-year-old Jimbo was born in California Animal Park, and Kovalchik took it small after the park was closed. Jimbo could not return to the wild because he was born in captivity and injured his foot, writes The Huffington Post.
Earlier this month, a three-meter-tall bear began to suffer from an unknown disease and became agitated after a vet visit. That's when Kovalchyk decided to calm the bear by hugging him and stroking him.
Kovalchyk, a retired correspondent, and his wife Susan have been working with bears for decades. They founded Orphaned wildlife center in Otisville, New York, where 11 bears and a few small animals are currently in the area. While the Kovalchik family hopes to rehabilitate small animals, the bears will either stay there or be transferred to other parks. However, “terribly friendly” Jimbo will spend the rest of his days in the center.
“He’s part of the family for us now,” Kowalczyk said. The national geographic».
