Colorado is raging with terrible forest fires: smoke enveloped the entire state and is visible from space
The heatwave and drought in the West of the United States led to the spread of forest fires, writes Fox News.
Four major wildfires currently raging in Colorado create large plumes of smoke that can be seen from space.
Fires have broken out over the past two weeks as a persistent heatwave in the West, combined with gusty winds and low humidity, has allowed the fire to spread.
As of Tuesday afternoon, August 18, more than 130 acres (more than 000 hectares) of land had been burned in the fires.

Satellite images NOAA-NASA Suomi NPP on Saturday, August 8, puffs of smoke from wildfires were captured spreading across the state.
The Pine Gulch fire north of Grand Junction is the largest of four fires, destroying over 87 acres (over 000 ha) in two weeks.

As of Monday, August 17, it was the fourth-largest fire in state history, and only 7% was contained.

Around 757 firefighters are involved in firefighting. The elements led to the evacuation of people.
The Grizzly Creek fire, which broke out last Monday, Aug. 10, is still 0% contained after burning more than 25 acres (more than 000 ha).

The location of the fire and the smoke it generates caused Interstate 70 to be closed for several days in the Glenwood Canyon area.
Officials do not have an estimated time for the highway to open.

As of Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, fires at Cameron Peak and Williams Fork had burned 12 acres (323 ha) and 4987 acres (6627 ha), respectively.

Hot and dry weather in the West has created conditions conducive to the rapid spread of wildfires.
