The corpse of 28-year-old IT specialist Denis Goncharov was found in a channel by residents of a coastal town near Sihanoukville. According to police, the victim was stabbed thirty times in the back and his throat was cut. The criminals did not take any money or documents; the only thing that disappeared was Goncharov's mobile phone.

As the wife of the deceased, a citizen of the People's Republic of China, Yuan Zuixiang, said, they were on holiday in Cambodia. On the eve of Denis, one of the Russian friends drove a moped, and together they set off to drink alcoholic beverages. It is his police who suspect murder - law enforcement officers believe that he stabbed Goncharov out of considerations of revenge. The name of the suspect has not yet been disclosed in the interests of the investigation.

Tourism is one of the main sources of income for the Cambodian economy. About three million foreign tourists visit the country annually. There are relatively few Russians among them: in 2014, the migration services of Cambodia recorded about 130 thousands of visitors from Russia. Moreover, as noted by tour operators, most often Russians use the country as a transit point, preferring holidays in the resorts of other countries of Southeast Asia, mainly Thailand.
