What states are refugees from Russia and Ukraine traveling to: map

The Pew Research Center analyzed which countries in the last 15 years most refugees came to the USA and in which states they mostly settled.

For example, in 2002, 1402 refugees from Ukraine settled in California, 1362 in Washington, 545 in Oregon, 514 in New York, and 231 in Pennsylvania. Few Russians moved to the United States during this period: 91 were registered in Colorado and 140 in Massachusetts.

The situation did not change much in 2003. Thus, 1174 refugees migrated from Ukraine to California, 1560 to Washington, 76 to Colorado, 467 to New York, 425 to Oregon, 45 to Ohio. Russians were not on the list, but Moldovans appeared (12 refugees settled in Alaska) and Belarusians (28 refugees remained in Montana).

But in 2004 and 2005, the leadership in the number of refugees passed to citizens of Sudan and Laos. In 2006, most refugees moved to the United States from Cuba and Iran, in 2007 - from Somalia and Burma. Since 2016, the number of refugees from Ukraine has increased significantly. Thus, in 2016, 289 Ukrainians received refugee status in Oregon, and 791 Ukrainians in Washington.

In 2017, the number of Ukrainian refugees increased even more: 358 people were registered in Oregon, 1424 in Washington, 111 in South Carolina, and 42 in Alaska.
