Lynch court: in Philadelphia, a mob attacked a man who hijacked a car with three children inside

The man died after a crowd of people kicked him down, having learned that he hijacked a car with three children inside.

The victim was 54-year-old Eric Hood, who was at loggerheads with the father of children and had a long history of arrests.

Stealing cars with children inside occurred around 21: 50 on Thursday near 29 and Dauphin streets in Strawberry Mansion, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

According to police, the mother was traveling with her three children and stopped to meet with the father of her two children at the pizza shop, leaving the car with the children inside.

According to the police, both the mother and father ran after the car, were able to catch up with him and pull out the hijacker from the driver’s seat.

Jason Smith, captain of the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit, says the children’s father and Hood were at odds.

“Hood managed to break away from the children’s father and escape across 29th Street. That's when a crowd of people stopped Hood and tackled him to the ground,” Smith said.

“The crowd kicked and punched Hood until police arrived. After some time, the man lost consciousness,” he added.

Police are studying a video posted on Instagram and video surveillance cameras from the scene to identify the people who participated in the beating.

“The video is very clear,” Smith said. He then called on the people involved to confess.

“I think it’s much better for them to connect with us than for us to connect with them,” he said.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Hood’s death, and will conduct tests to determine if he has taken drugs.

He was previously arrested 24 times. The latest arrest is dated 2007 year.

Mothers of children may be charged with leaving them alone in a car, putting potential danger.

Police reports that parents of children cooperate with the police. They were interrogated by detectives, after which they were released.
