In Chicago, a teacher and her friend beat a 9-year-old boy in a school toilet

A public school teacher in Chicago (Illinois) allowed her girlfriend to beat a fourth-grade student in a school bathroom, said in a lawsuit filed by the mother of the injured child.

Asia Gaynes, the mother of a 9-year-old boy, said her son got bruises all over his body as a result of being beaten with a thick leather belt, writes Fox News. Kristen Haynes, the class teacher of the boy in George Tilton Elementary School, and her friend Juanita Tyler are accused of committing an offense with alleged violence.

The defendants are 50-year-old Haynes, 56-year-old Tyler and the school district in which the incident occurred.

The boy came to school 20 September 2018 of the year. Two women grabbed him and dragged him to the toilet. Tyler struck the schoolboy several times with leather belts provided by her teacher and slapped him. According to the investigation, Tyler has long-term kinship with the boy, but the police did not specify which ones.

The boy was not at all a problem child in Miss Haines’s class, the lawsuit says.

“He was punished either for something he did not do or for laughing during a lesson with another boy the day before,” the document states.

After the beating, the sobbing child was returned to his classroom, where "all the morning he sat at his desk and sobbed uncontrollably, in connection with which he endured public humiliation and experienced shame."

31-year-old Gaynes found out about the incident when her sister took the child out of school and saw traces of the blows all over his body.

"School is a safe place for children where they should be protected no matter what. Teachers are supposed to protect children from injury, harm or danger, and she failed to do that," Gaines said.

The teacher was sent on paid leave while the school district was conducting an internal investigation.
