Baltimore protest over death of a black prisoner
Approximately one and a half thousand demonstrators in American Baltimore came out to protest at the death of a black man who was under arrest.
This is one of the largest protests in the history of the city.
They began the march from the place where Freddie Gray was arrested on April 12.
According to the police, Gray, walking down the street and meeting his eyes with the police patrol, suddenly rushed away from them. After he was detained and placed in a police van, he began to behave violently, and he had to be chained in handcuffs hand and foot.
It is not yet clear when and how exactly Gray suffered serious injuries to his neck and spine, from which he fell into a coma and died a week later.
The police commissioner admitted that the arrested person was not provided with adequate medical care.
For the period of the investigation, six police officers were suspended from work. Internal investigation is ongoing.
