USCIS has extended the deadline for responding to immigration requests

In response to the coronavirus pandemic US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is expanding the flexibilities announced on March 30, 2020 to help applicants, petitioners, and requestors who respond to certain types of requests.

Here is a list of the immigration requests in question:

• Requests for Evidence;
• continuation of the request for evidence (Continuations to Request Evidence);
• Notices of Intent to Deny
• Notices of Intent to Revoke
• Notices of Intent to Rescind;
• notices of intention to terminate regional centers (Notices of Intent to Terminate regional centers);
• Motions to Reopen an N-400, Receipt of Derogatory Information After Grant.

On the subject: USCIS has changed the process of renewing the green card

In addition, USCIS will review Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Petition, or Form N-336, Request for Naturalization Hearing (under INA Section 336) if:

• the form was filed within 60 calendar days of the date of the USCIS decision;
• the decision was made at any time from March 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

Date of issue of notification / request / decision:

These flexibilities apply to the aforementioned documents if the issue date specified in the request, notice or decision falls within the period from March 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 inclusive.

Response time:

USCIS will review the response to the above requests and notifications received within 60 calendar days of the date specified in the request or notification before taking any action. In addition, USCIS will review Form N-336 or I-290B received within 60 calendar days from the date of the decision before taking any action.
