The Ukrainian tennis player did not shake hands with the Belarusian athlete after the match at the US Open in New York
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk did not shake hands with Victoria Azarenka of Belarus after losing to her in the second round of the US Open tournament in New York. The edition told in more detail Voice of America.
When Azarenka defeated Kostyuk with a score of 6:2, 6:3, instead of the traditional handshake after the match, the athletes exchanged racket touches.
Kostyuk said she chose to do so to express disappointment that Azarenka has not condemned the war more openly.

Kostyuk is indignant that Azarenka did not express her opinion on the war: “I think she could have done more.”
A 20-year-old tennis player from Kyiv felt that shaking hands would be the wrong behavior under the circumstances in which she found herself.
