Ukrainians suspected of laundering $ 2,8 million stolen by hackers in the US
South Korea has issued a US citizen of Ukraine Alexander Musienko, who is accused of legalizing $ 2,8 million stolen by hackers from bank accounts of American individuals and companies, reports UAPOSTS.US with reference to the prosecutor's office of the Western District of North Carolina.
“South Korean authorities have extradited a Ukrainian to the United States in connection with charges of large-scale legalization and fraud against dozens of victims, including companies located in the Western District of North Carolina,” the statement said.
According to the report, the Ukrainians are accused of acting in the US under the cover of fictitious companies, such as Vita Finance and Hilpert, in the means stolen by hackers. Musiyenko allegedly deceived hired workers to perform the duties of financial assistants. At a certain time, they transferred the stolen money to their bank accounts and immediately transferred it to third-party accounts registered outside the United States.
In exchange, these individuals were promised a reward of about 5% of each transfer. According to prosecutors, the criminal scheme worked with 2009 for 2012 year.
Musienko was arrested on the basis of accusations made by the government during a private trip to Korea, after which 28 March was issued by the United States.
