Russia turned to the US Embassy in Moscow with a request to lift diplomatic immunity from three employees suspected of stealing things from a Russian citizen. Writes about it Reuters.
The Foreign Office said that if the United States refused to lift diplomatic immunity, three employees would have to leave Russia immediately.
“A note was sent to the US Embassy with a request to lift diplomatic immunity in order to prosecute three employees of the American diplomatic mission in connection with their identification as suspects in the theft of personal belongings from a Russian citizen,” the Foreign Ministry noted, reports TASS.

Journalists, citing a source in Russian law enforcement agencies, reported that on September 18, three US citizens from the embassy in Moscow, intoxicated, stole a backpack from a Russian citizen. According to preliminary data, the amount of damage was 15 thousand rubles ($ 208).
Moscow police have identified the three men as U.S. Marines between the ages of 21 and 26, media reported citing police spokesman Vladimir Vasenin.
Earlier this week, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that US Congress proposal to expel 300 Russian diplomats from the United States will lead to the closure of US diplomatic facilities in Russia, if implemented.
US Democratic and Republican senators have called on US President Joe Biden to expel Russian diplomats if Moscow does not issue new visas for Americans so they can represent Washington in Russia.
