Trump reiterated his readiness to impose a state of emergency in the United States from behind the wall

US President Donald Trump reiterated that he could declare a state of emergency in the country if negotiations with Democrats about financing the construction of a wall along the border with Mexico will come to a standstill, writes “New time".

“The Democrats and I can’t get anywhere,” Trump said during a White House event, citing what he called “a huge obstacle from the Democrats.”

“I think there is a high probability that we will have to do this (introduce a state of emergency),” the president added.

After declaring a state of emergency in the US, Trump will receive official authority to allocate several billion dollars from the budget of the US Department of Defense for the construction of the border wall. Earlier, the president stressed that he has the right to do this, because illegal immigration, in his opinion, threatens the national security of the United States.

The day before, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (Democratic Party) said that the budget “will not include any money for the wall.”

Recall, due to disagreements between the President and Congress over the financing of the construction of a wall on the border between the US and Mexico, the US government during 35 days (December 22 to January 25) was in a state shatdaun - partial closure of the federal government due to lack of funding. The congress and presidential administration cannot agree on expenditures for a year or at least several months. President Donald Trump is demanding almost 6 billion dollars to be allocated for the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico, but Congress, whose lower house is controlled by the Democratic Party following the mid-term elections, refuses to allocate this money.

On January 25, the parties were able to reach a temporary agreement on government opening for three weeks (until February 15). If during this period it is not possible to agree on a draft long-term budget (the stumbling block here is the same wall), the States will face a new shatdown.
