Trump moves closer to Obama in admiration rating - poll

Former US President Barack Obama topped the ranking of the most respected men in the US in 2017, ahead of his successor Donald Trump. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the agency Gallup, writes Rtvi.
Gallup Annually presents ratings of the most respected men and women in the United States at the end of December. As a rule, current presidents occupy the first place in this rating. However, this year, US President Donald Trump took second place: he was given preference by 14% of respondents. In the first place is his predecessor Barack Obama, in whose favor 17% of survey participants spoke.
Obama is recognized as the most respected American for the tenth consecutive year. The record belongs to ex-president Dwight Eisenhower: he was recognized as the most respected US citizen for 12 years.
Hillary Clinton turned out to be the most respected American: 9% of respondents voted for her. Clinton has been at the top of the rankings for 16 for years in a row, and she has received this title 22 times, which is an absolute record. In second place is the former First Lady Michelle Obama (7%). The wife of the current president, Melania Trump, was ranked in the 8 ranking with 1%.
The top 5 most respected men in the United States also included Pope Francis (3%), Baptist preacher Billy Graham (2%), and Senator John McCain (2%). Among the women most admired by Americans are TV host Oprah Winfrey (4%), Senator Elizabeth Warren (3%) and German Chancellor Angela Merkel (2%).
