On the evening of May 6, some regions of the country were attacked by a powerful tornado - in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska, buildings were seriously damaged and traffic on the highway was stopped. There were many reports of downed trees and scattered power outages from various areas. And the weather continues to worsen, forecasters say.
Lancaster County Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ann Eames said there was no information about injuries, writes Omaha World Herald.
Tornado twice or three times briefly attacked the region, reports from the National Meteorological Service on social networks reported. Strong winds also swept over Lancaster County, causing damage.
In Lincoln, several buildings suffered, damage ranging from light to serious. One of the buildings blew off the roof, which landed on the highway and blocked traffic. There are destroyed structures.

7 May The National Meteorological Service dispatched a group of meteorologists to Lincoln to inspect the damage and determine how much the tornado actually occurred. This is necessary to predict and calculate the intensity, size and trajectory of a tornado.

According to reports on social networks, the strongest winds also damaged the 911 system of the counties of Lincoln and Lancaster, but the city and county has a backup.
The National Weather Service received a short-term contact of a tornado with the ground two miles (more than 3 km) southeast of Malcolm, Nebraska, and northwest of Lincoln.
Drivers were reminded of the danger of traveling along flooded roads, as well as of cautious traffic on sections of roads and streets where trees or numerous branches could fall.

Atmospheric instability produced numerous storms throughout the region. Hail was reported throughout Nebraska. The largest hailstones—up to the size of baseballs—were recorded in Hamilton and Harlan counties.

The National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for Rice and Barton County districts.

On May 6, tornado warnings were issued for Rice and Barton counties, and later Stafford, Renault, Mead, Harvey and Sedgwick counties were added to them. In fact, a tornado passed near the city of Nickerson, and then not far from Danville at a speed of about 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour).
