New York court refused to allow unvaccinated children to attend school

A federal judge, citing an “unprecedented measles outbreak” in Rockland County, New York, declined a request to allow 44 unvaccinated children to return to attend classes at a local school.

Parents of Green Meadow Waldorf School students in Chestnut Ridge sued the county health department. According to them, none of the children excluded from school fell ill with measles against the background of an outbreak of this disease in the district that began in the autumn of 2018, writes Business Insider.

Parents' lawyer Michael Sussman criticized the judge’s decision to refuse a temporary restraining order that would allow children to return to school.

Against this background, New York City’s pediatric organizations expressed support for a state bill that would allow minors to get vaccinated without parental consent.

Local lawmakers who support the law argue that too many parents trust unconfirmed claims that vaccines are unsafe.
