Arizona court sentenced a Russian who tried to illegally cross the US border

In Arizona, the Federal District Court has sentenced the Russian Yevgeny Glushchenko. Earlier, he admitted that he tried to illegally cross the US border. The offender was not obliged to serve a prison sentence - most likely, he will be deported to Russia. Writes about it News.Mail.Ru.

As part of a deal with the investigation in April 2021, Glushchenko admitted that he tried to illegally cross the border between the United States and Mexico to get to the United States.

The terms of the deal suggested that he would be sentenced to the same term in prison that he had previously been in custody. That was the verdict he was sentenced. Now Glushchenko will most likely be deported to Russia.

Glushchenko remains in custody. He participated in the court session via video link.

In November, the 2019 an officer of the US Border and Customs Service on the border with Mexico shot and wounded a Russian citizen... Glushchenko tried to illegally cross the US-Mexican border. His condition, as noted by the service representatives, was satisfactory. Sources then reported that Glushchenko refused to contact Russian diplomats.

Glushchenko had already been taken into custody in Arizona before. According to state officials, he has been held in a preliminary detention center in the south of the state since September 2018. According to the American side, he was taken into custody when he tried to illegally enter the United States from Mexico with his pregnant wife. The court then ruled that Glushchenko should be deported to his homeland.
