Flight attendants told why not to use blankets on the plane

One flight attendant decided to tell the truth about how airlines deal with passenger blankets.

There are quite a few things that you should not do on an airplane in order not to endanger your health, for example, walk barefoot or order a place near the toilet. But it turned out that the danger lies in the blankets, which are issued to passengers so that they do not freeze, writes Vesta Israel.

This secret was revealed by a member of the Reddit social network under the pseudonym Mehow44. He wrote that he worked as a steward at Southwest Airlines, and admitted that the blankets there had never undergone sanitary treatment between flights. According to him, blankets issued to passengers may be infected with germs from previous flights.

“Clean blankets were only provided on morning flights in cities where these products were supplied,” wrote a former flight attendant.

Another stewardess, Sarah Kigal, the leading blog on the site of the publication Huffington Post, confirmed this statement. She explained that the washed blankets are issued only on the first flights of the day. After that, they are folded, packaged and reused.

Beautiful packaging should not be misleading: as early as 2000, the US textile workers union (Needletrades) reported that some airlines were repacking used blankets without erasing them.

Subsequently, the Wall Street Journal published material according to which airlines donate blankets for washing no more than once per 5-30 days.

Airlines after these publications began to make excuses. For example, US Airways announced that on its flights, the blankets were washed every 5 days, American Airlines announced that during the night stay it was changing pillows on pillows and, if necessary, blankets.

However, the famous American comic actress Nicole Beyer spoke about the incident, beyond the limits of permissible. In 2017, she used the services of Delta Airlines, flew first class, and despite this, she was given a blanket ... with a piece of feces. Apparently, the passengers of the previous flight put a baby on him during a diaper change.

In general, to fly to the destination not only well-slept, but also healthy, it is best to cover yourself with a blanket taken from home.
