American Airlines connecting flights will now be operated by buses
According to an announcement this week, some passengers on American Airlines connecting flights will be transported by bus rather than by plane. Gizmodo.
The airline has signed an agreement with Landline, a bus company that bills itself as the airport of the future (if the airport of the future runs out of planes). The company tweeted, "We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with @AmericanAir! Uninterrupted service between American's hub in Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley Airport (ABE) and Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) will begin on June 3rd."
The transition from clouds to asphalt came amid rising fuel prices and a shortage of pilots, which mainly affected regional airlines. It is not yet clear what it will be like for passengers on the bus and whether they will be able not to lose their luggage. What's really known is that Brian Znotins, American's vice president of network planning, said the partnership will help customers connect with the Philadelphia-based airline's international flights.

This is not the first time an airline has joined forces with a bus company to deliver passengers. Landline has similar partnerships with United Airlines in Denver and Sun Country Airlines in seven cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. They offer bus rides as a more convenient alternative to traveling between airports.

Flights from Philadelphia to Allentown and to Atlantic City currently take about 30 minutes each. The journey by bus takes about two hours. Which doesn't seem so convenient. On the other hand, traveling by bus is much more environmentally friendly than traveling by plane. Buses emit significantly less carbon dioxide into the air, thereby reducing their carbon footprint.
