A student took a graduation photo with her best friend, an alligator.
An American student was photographed in a pond with a huge, four-meter alligator named Big Tex.
Mackenzie Noland finishes her studies at the University of Texas as an environmentalist and wildlife specialist and decided to take several shots before graduation in an academic cap with a square top and a university scarf.
For three months, she had an internship at the Gator kennel in the city of Beaumont, where she met a crocodile.
According to her, during this time they had a peculiar connection, the crocodile gives her herself to feed and reacts to the movements of her hands when she walks into the pond.
“I get in the water every day and spend time with him. He’s one of my best friends here,” the girl said. with the BBC.
According to her, she was more worried that the crocodile would accidentally swallow the ring that the girl had put on his nose.
According to the 21-year-old student, she was photographed with a crocodile to show what she had been doing all three months in the nursery.
“These are beautiful creatures - and not all of them eat people!” says Mackenzie.
Mackenzie's pictures with the crocodile received hundreds of likes and shares. The girl admits that she did not expect such success: “I did not expect such a reaction. I just wanted to post some cute photos on Instagram. It's just incredible."
“I want to continue working with animals and teaching people how to behave around them,” Mackenzie says of her plans for the future.
Despite the fact that alligators are considered dangerous animals, their attacks are rather rare. A detailed report published in the US in 2010 found that alligators killed 1928 people between 2009 and 24. During the same period, 567 attacks were recorded - only 260 of them required medical attention.
Over the past three years, alligators have killed people in the US three times. The most famous of these cases happened in 2016 in Florida - then a predator dragged a two-year-old boy away at Disney World.
