His rating is derived from the Passport Index, an online tool that collects data from 193 United Nations Member States and six territories to compile an ever-changing list of the most powerful passports in the world. The index is sponsored by Arton Capital, a global financial consulting firm. And her annual list of the most valuable passports is determined by the number of countries where passport holders can enter without a visa.

Singapore is the only country that ranked first with 166 points. A Singapore passport will provide visa-free access to 127 countries, and all 29 countries will require a visa upon arrival. To get to the rest of the 32 countries, you will need a visa.

South Korea is right behind Singapore, which was the leader in 2017. This year, South Korea dropped to second place, earning 165 points.

The USA, Finland, Germany, Denmark, along with other European countries, also occupy the 2-place with the 165 score.

South Korea and Singapore are the only Asian countries that took first and second places. Japan joins Italy, France and Canada and ranks third.

Singapore's rise in the passport power rankings coincides with the country's growing wealth. WealthInsight, a data company that tracks the wealth of countries around the world, reported in May that in Singapore, one in 34 residents is a millionaire. WealthInsight also determined that the city-state increased its millionaire density by 2,9% in the last year alone.
