Stanford suspended all educational programs in Russia, including a summer internship at the Carnegie Moscow Center, after the State Department entered Russia on the list of countries not recommended to visit пишет Stanford daily.

Students are prohibited from participating in educational trips to countries that are on the “third level” or “fourth level” lists, where there is a “high threat to health and safety.”

The State Department divides countries into four levels, from level one "take normal precautions" to level four "do not travel." Russia is at “level three” - “travel to countries in this category should be reconsidered due to high security risks.”

It is noted that graduate students can still apply for participation in the summer internship at the Carnegie Moscow Center, but for bachelor students this option is no longer available. Alternative programs are available for them.

Recall, the recommendation of the State Department states that some regions of the Russian Federation are “high risk” zones. The Foreign Ministry attributed to them the North Caucasus, including Chechnya and Mount Elbrus, due to civil unrest and the threat of terrorism, as well as the annexed Crimean peninsula due to foreign occupation and abuses of the occupation authorities.

The North Caucasus and Crimea deserve special mention in the recommendations. Regarding these regions, the State Department unconditionally urges Americans: “Do not go there!”.
