The United States has banned the sale of tickets to Belarus: how Americans can get to this country

Due to the tense relations between Belarus and almost the whole world, immigrants found themselves in an uncertain position. Immigrants from Belarus found themselves in a very disadvantageous position, because in addition to the fact that many countries have stopped air traffic with Belarus, USA has banned the sale of tickets to the country, even those that involve a transplant.

And if earlier it was possible to fly to Ukraine, and then get to Belarus, then quite recently, on July 3, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenka completely closed the border with Ukraine.

Belarusian citizenship plays an important role

Russia is becoming the most obvious option, but there are also problems here. Everything will be quite easy if you still have Belarusian citizenship and, accordingly, you are traveling with a passport of a citizen of Belarus. Russia did not impose strict restrictions on citizens of a neighboring state. The only thing you will need to do is take a PCR test for COVID-19. Further, upon arrival in Russia, you can get to Belarus by any transport convenient for you - by plane, train, bus.

Traveling by plane will only take about an hour and a half, and tickets start at around $ 100.

Important! You should buy plane tickets separately, as the sale of transfer packages in the United States is prohibited. That is, you have to buy a ticket to Russia, and then separately buy another ticket to Belarus.

Please note that when crossing the Belarusian border, you will also need negative test results for COVID-19, taken no later than 3 days before entry.

Also State Border Committee of Belarus warns that all persons, in order to avoid problems when crossing the border, are advised to present documents confirming the purpose of the trip, translated into one of the state languages ​​of the Republic of Belarus (Belarusian, Russian).

What to do if you are flying with an American passport

Immigrants who are going to travel with an American passport will find it a little more difficult to get to Belarus.

First, you will need to find a country with a visa-free regime for Americans, but also make sure that flights to Belarus are carried out from this country.

Please note that at the intermediate destination airport, you will need to leave the transfer area and go through passport control and baggage inspection again.

According to Sky scanner, in addition to Russia, Belarus can be reached from Turkey, Austria, Uzbekistan, Poland, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Finland and Latvia.

According to the portal Visasam, among these countries, visa-free travel for US citizens is valid in Turkey (a visa is acquired on arrival), Latvia (no more than 90 days in a 180-day period), Finland (no more than 90 days in a 180-day period) and Poland (also no more than 90 days in a 180-day period).

It turns out that you will need to purchase a ticket to one of these countries, and then purchase another one already to Belarus.

• Of Turkey there are direct flights without transfers. The flight takes 3 hours on average and costs from $ 300.
• Of Latvia there are flights with one or more transfers. A ticket with one stop will cost about $ 200. The change will be in Germany.
• Of Finland the plane makes a transfer in Russia. The cost of such a ticket is about $ 550, and the flight lasts 6 hours.
• The situation is similar with Poland, the transplant is carried out in Russia. The flight lasts about 6 hours, ticket prices start at $ 400.

1. Buying a ticket from the USA to one of the four countries that fly to Belarus
2. Buying a ticket from an intermediate country to Belarus
3. Flight to one of four countries
4. Leaving the airport transfer area, re-passing control
5. Boarding a flight to Belarus
6. Transfer (if the flight is not direct)
7. Arrival in Belarus
