US advises airlines to 'fly carefully' over Ukraine and Russia

The Federal Aviation Administration of the US Department of Transportation has published messages in which it recommends airlines to exercise extreme caution when flying over parts of Ukraine and Russia. This is reported by the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, writes Air force.

NOTAM A0012 / 21 recommends caution when flying 100 nautical miles (185 km) from the flight information areas of Kiev, Dnieper and Simferopol in Ukraine, and over some of the flight information areas of Moscow and Rostov-on-Don in Russia.

In another NOTAM A0013 / 21, US-registered airlines and airplanes are advised to exercise caution when planning flights to the flight information areas of Dnipro, Simferopol and Kiev.

The State Aviation Administration believes that concerns about escalation along Ukraine's borders led to such decisions.

The Ukrainian department invited the American aviation authorities to provide complete information on the state of air navigation services and flight safety in Ukraine.

“In order to ensure the safety of flights of civil aircraft in the airspace under the responsibility of Ukraine, there are certain restrictions that have been in force since 2014 and are associated with Russian aggression... All other airspace under the responsibility of Ukraine is now safe and accessible for planning and executing flights,” they note in the State Aviation Service.
