US raises entry fees at airports: who will it affect
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced an increase in fees for international travelers under the Americas Visa Waiver Program. TravelPulse.

According to BusinessTravelNews.com, CBP officials posted a notice in the Federal Register that starting May 26, the standard fee for arriving travelers will increase from $10 to $17, plus an additional $4 administration fee.
Foreign visitors from the 40 countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program will pay extra money to maintain and use the Electronic Travel Authorization (ESTA) system.

The US government uses ESTA to determine whether travelers are eligible for visa waivers, with each permit available for two years. The new tariff will be valid until 2027.
In terms of what happens to the additional funds raised, up to $100 million in revenue goes to the Travel Promotion Fund to use Brand USA for marketing purposes. Experts believe the levy will help the government raise more than $100 million in each of the next six years.
Earlier this year, CBP announced a Global Entry Agreement with the Government of Brazil (GOB). The full launch comes after a more limited pilot program launched in November 2019 that will increase the number of Brazilian citizens eligible for Global Entry, including those entering the US for tourism and certain business purposes.
