The United States recalls diplomats from Cuba and asks residents of the United States not to travel to the island

In Havana, the issuance of US visas is suspended for an indefinite period due to the fact that the US withdraws the majority of its embassy staff. The normal operation of the embassy will be stopped until Cuba does not guarantee the complete safety of American diplomats.

The State Department ordered most of the employees of the US Embassy and their families to leave Cuba due to unexplained health problems. It is reported about acoustic attacks, which were subjected to embassy staff. A US diplomat complained about hearing problems.

Authorities also recommend that American citizens not visit Cuba, as US citizens were subject to acoustic attacks in hotels.

Unofficially, American diplomats say that some device was used against them, capable of transmitting a strong sound, the frequency of which is outside the human-audible range. However, no evidence of this has yet been provided.

As a result of these mysterious sound attacks, the embassy staff experienced nausea, dizziness, someone had a slight concussion. Some complained of hearing loss.

In addition to the staff of the American Embassy, ​​two Canadians were injured.

All embassy staff were ordered to leave the embassy building in Havana. There remain only those who perform the basic diplomatic and consular duties of the United States, including the provision of emergency assistance to American travelers in Cuba.

Recall, the US embassy was reopened in Havana in 2015, and in 2016, Barack Obama became the first president of the United States since 1928 (when Calvin Coolidge came to 30), who visited Cuba.

In June of this year, US President Donald Trump announced a partial rejection of the policy of Barack Obama, but it was decided to leave the US Embassy in Havana.
