The United States is ready to accept refugees from Ukraine
Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it is estimated that up to 5 million Ukrainians may leave their country. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the United States is ready to accept some of these refugees. Writes about it The Week.
The US expects most to seek asylum in Ukraine's neighbors such as Poland, and Psaki said the Biden administration is "also working with European countries on their needs and capacity to host refugees."

Since the invasion began early on January 24, Ukrainians fleeing the fighting have fled to Poland, Romania and Moldova, and relief centers have been set up at the borders.
In December, Ukraine's defense minister estimated that between 3 and 5 million Ukrainians could be forced to flee their homes if Russia invades.

By comparison, between 2015 and 2016, about 1 million refugees arrived in Europe from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and nearly 1,5 million people were displaced in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.
