Compare: how Trump and Obama celebrated Thanksgiving
President Trump and his family spent Thanksgiving at the Trump Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and former President Barack Obama decided to make an unexpected visit and help volunteers feed the homeless and the needy.
In addition to the traditional turkey, the menu included seafood and salad.
In addition to the first lady Melania Trump and their son Baron, Ivanka Trump and Tiffany were present at the dinner.
The dinner menu was long and included a full salad bar and chilled seafood made from crabs, oysters, giant shrimps and clams.
Among other things were beef tenderloin, lamb and salmon, Chilean sea bass, red perch and ribs.
But former President Obama decided to make a surprise and came to help volunteers to feed the homeless and needy at Thanksgiving Day.
Wearing a Chicago White Sox cap, Obama arrived with bags of food before donning gloves to work alongside the nonprofit's volunteers.
A former president and longtime resident of Chicago came with Obama Foundation employees who are committed to improving community life through leadership training and other educational efforts.
“Hey, how are you?” he asked the volunteers as he entered.
A distinctive feature of the Obama presidency is the fight against hunger around the world. In 2009, his administration pledged to allocate $ 3,5 billion over three years to Feed the Future, which works to promote agricultural knowledge and tools in areas of high food insecurity. In 2016, he signed the Global Food Safety Act to support the government’s efforts at Feed the Future.
This was not the first time that Obama volunteered to help during the Thanksgiving holiday. He and his family spent the day on Thanksgiving Day at 2015, dining with the homeless and veterans at the Center for the Homeless in Washington.
