Southwest Airlines continues to cancel flights
Southwest Airlines has canceled more than 250 Friday flights. Tensioned situation is maintained for the third day. In general, the carrier has canceled the order of 1850 flights.
“We have more than 250 system-wide cancellations today as we continue our recovery efforts,” Southwest spokeswoman Brandi King said.
The glitch of the system knocked down the operation of the carrier’s website, and also led to a delay in flights throughout the country on Wednesday and Thursday.
At Southwest Airlines, they said they were trying to fix the problem, because of which 700 flights were canceled on Wednesday and 900 on Thursday. At this time of year, the company operates daily 3900 flights.
Southwest Airlines has previously said it hopes to return to a normal work schedule on Friday. Judging by the application for website companies, she failed to do that. The carrier recommends that customers rebook their trip for alternative dates by checking availability on Southwest.com.
A surge of customers who wanted to rebook their tickets overloaded the airline’s telephone lines. Employees encourage passengers to cancel and re-book their flight at http://southwest.com.
Several clients responded to this tweet, reporting that they were on hold for several hours.
In Southwest Airlines, most customers who had tickets for the period from July 20 to July 26 were allowed to rebook the trip at no cost.
The company also assured that they will contact all customers who have suffered due to system failure.
