How can people affected by Harvey receive social benefits
Starting on Friday, September 1, most social security benefits will begin to be paid (Social Security and Supplemental Security Income). The following information covers the various methods of delivering these payments in connection with Hurricane Harvey.
Checks that are delivered by the US Postal Service
Hurricane Harvey on the Gulf Coast and its consequences have led to a temporary suspension of the mail delivery service, and some postal services in the Houston area have also been closed. The Postal Service provides additional information on how customers evacuated by floods due to Hurricane Harvey can receive checks, which are usually received by mail.
