Soon, the United States will allow all foreigners vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the country: Russian Sputnik is still banned

On October 15, the White House announced that the United States would lift all entry restrictions on fully vaccinated foreign nationals crossing land borders and arriving at the country's international airports from November 8, writes Voice of America.

For the first time, restrictions on crossing land borders with Canada and Mexico were introduced in March 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. And restrictions for air passengers appeared in January 2020 with regard to people arriving from the PRC, and then spread to dozens of other countries and were never completely canceled.

The United States has lagged behind many countries in lifting restrictions. Travelers from most of the world have been unable to enter the United States for nearly 20 months, including tens of thousands of foreign nationals with relatives or doing business in the United States.

Unvaccinated foreigners entering the United States from Canada or Mexico overland will continue to be barred from entering the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said foreigners must be vaccinated against COVID-19 with drugs approved by US regulatory agencies or the World Health Organization (WHO). But it is worth noting: the rules for entering US closes doors to those fully vaccinated with Russia's Sputnik V vaccine.

There are still several issues to be resolved, including how and what exceptions the Biden administration will make in relation to vaccines.

Effective November 8, the United States will host fully vaccinated foreign air travelers from 26 Schengen countries in Europe, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Greece, as well as the United Kingdom, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran, and Brazil.

Throughout the pandemic, the United States periodically allowed entry to citizens of more than 150 countries. Critics said such a policy did not make sense, since many countries with high infection rates were never blacklisted.

Last month, the White House said it would require proof of vaccination for foreign nationals flying from all countries.

Before boarding a flight to the United States, air passengers will need to show proof of vaccination and show the results of a recent COVID-19 test. Foreigners crossing the land border will not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.
