How much do you need to earn in major US cities to feel happy

Can money really buy happiness? It turns out they can. Purdue University conducted a study that examined how much money people need to be happy, and whether happiness grows as income levels increase. Writes about it Go Banking Rates.

The study states that the optimal amount of money needed to be happy varies around the world. “This may be surprising because what we see on TV and what advertisers tell us we need indicates that there is no limit when it comes to how much money you need to be happy, but now we we see that there are some thresholds,” said Andrew T. Jebb, a doctoral student and lead author of the Purdue University study.

The study was specifically designed to accurately determine the amount in which money no longer changes your level of emotional well-being and a satisfactory standard of living. Emotional well-being was measured in accordance with the daily emotions of a person, including happiness, excitement, sadness and anger. The assessment of life was determined in terms of overall satisfaction with life.
