Sergei Kislyak shamed CNN for asking about his “espionage activities”
The former Russian ambassador to the US, Sergei Kislyak, called “nonsense” his suspicions of spying and said that CNN “should be ashamed” for such questions.
He stated this during interview this tv channel.
During the conversation, the journalist asked Kisliak to comment on the espionage charges against him.
"Nonsense. You should be ashamed because CNN is the company that continues to point out these allegations. This is nonsense,” Kislyak replied.
Asked if he was surprised when, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump, during which he allegedly revealed classified information on Syria, Kislyak emphasized that “I’m not sure that I heard anything that was a secret.”
The diplomat refused to answer the question about the essence negotiations with his son-in-law and advisor to US President Jared Kushner.
“I have said many times that we do not discuss the essence of negotiations with American interlocutors out of respect for our partners,” Kislyak emphasized.
When asked to predict the further development of relations between Russia and the United States, he replied that they will also be “difficult” in the future, but not because of Russia, but “because of the political dynamics of the United States,” which, by expanding the sanctions, “show anti-Russian attitude.
Kislyak served as Russian Ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2017. For a long time, the diplomat was portrayed in the American media as a “conductor of Russian influence,” and anonymous intelligence sources called Kislyak a “Russian intelligence officer” and a “recruiter.”
